Many of the bulk fertilisers which we weigh up into smaller quantities have become cheaper. Blood Fish & Bone, Bone Meal and Growmore are now down at 30p per lb while the large sizes are now B F Bone £15.85 Bone Meal £13.60 with Growmore at £15.90 each for the 25kg size. If you haven't tried Humex Multi compost yet you will find it is superior to most other makes and the prices are £4.95 for the 75lt size stocked at Tarring and Chesswood, while the 40lt size stocked at Humber costs £3.55, the smaller size is because I find it difficult to lift the larger bags. Grow bags are also the same make and the price is £2.20 each. JI Seed and No2 have added just 5p to the price at £3.05, and some members are mixing a bag of JI with a bag of Humex to improve it for seed sowing in trays. Sturon Onion sets are still available in the stores as are some varieties of seed potatoes, first come first served. Some seed lines have sold out but there is still plenty of choice on the racks in the stores. Pete Everett, Trading Sec. Sturon Onion sets will be in the Stores early January, as will red sets and shallots. Your potato orders will be ready for collection from the Stores at the end of January, in time for you to lay out in trays for chitting if wished. With the 20% VAT being applied in the New Year, prices in the Stores will change as new stock is order. It will add 5p to a 40lt bag of multi and 10p to a 75lt bag, but all other prices will change as old stock is sold. (01/12/2010) Potato Orders

(31/07/2010) Problem with foxes?
Foxes have had a bit of a bad press recently and many of us now see them around not only in gardens but even in the road. Although their cubs do look engaging playing on your lawn or wherever there is no doubt they are also a nuisance ripping open bin gags, leaving droppings and digging holes. Poisoning is a bit of a risky business but there is a repellant you can buy which is humane and not dangerous to pets or children. It is called Renardine and our stores sock it.
