EVENTS
The main event of the year is our annual
show, which we hold jointly with the Worthing Horticultural
Society in Broadwater Church Hall. The 2009 Show was on Saturday,
5th September. This year the flower arrangement in a teapot, judged
by the public, was another new hit and the public really enjoyed
getting involved. Over 160 votes were cast for both the teapots
and the photographs of "Sunny Worthing". The children's marigold
competition was set up outside in the sunshine where they made a
lovely show and the winners of the two age groups were Jack Roberts
and Orchard Chamberland.
It was clear that we had an outstanding showman in
Peter Webb who won Best Exhibit of Fruit, Most Points For Vegetables,
Best Exhibit of Vegetables, Most Points for Flowers, Best Collection
of Vegetables, Top Tray and Best in Show for his beautiful Trug
of Vegetables.
The event was again a tremendous success and a tribute
to all the hard work put in by Jack, our show secretary, and Jenny,
chairman of the Worthing Horticultural Association.

The Horticultural Society's Quiz Evening
in 2009 was on Saturday, 10th October. The £6 entry fee also
included a ploughman's supper - a cheap price to pay for such an
enjoyable evening.
We have a pub night on the last Tuesday
of every month in the North Star on the Littlehampton Road. All
members are welcome and we don't even make you buy a round on your
first visit. It's just a very friendly little get-together to talk
about anything and enjoy a drink in a relaxed atmosphere.
NEXT PUB NIGHT: Tuesday, 30th March
Our Association Dinner in 2010 was
again at the Windsor House Hotel, on Friday, 19th February. A great
time was had by all. Click here for
pictures.

Our main outing in 2009 was to Wisley
on the 8th August but a small group also went on a short jaunt to
Paris and took in delights such as
the Jardin des Plantes, the Rose Gardens in the Bois de Boulogne
and the Jardins du Luxembourg as well as other familiar tourist
haunts. In April 2010 Worthing coaches are doing a trip to the Floralies
Flower Show in Belgium, an event which
is only held every 5 years. For more details click here.
