This page explains the difference between Worthing Allotments and Gardens Association
and Worthing Allotment Management,
two organisations that are often confused because they operate
within the same Worthing allotments.
WAGA and WAM — two separate organisations
Worthing Allotments & Gardens Association (WAGA) is a voluntary membership
association supporting local allotment holders and gardeners.
We run three trading shops offering gardening supplies at competitive prices, organise horticultural shows
and social events, and share gardening news and information.
WAGA membership costs £5 for the first year and £3 per year thereafter.
This membership fee is separate from the cost of your allotment plot, which is managed by WAM.
Worthing Allotment Management (WAM) was a separate organisation responsible for
managing allotment sites.
Its role included administering plot tenancies, allocating available plots, collecting
rents and dealing with site management matters.
These responsibilities were separate from WAGA’s shops,
membership and events.
Worthing Borough Council now manages the allotments previously managed by WAM.
Enquiries about applying for a plot, rent, tenancy agreements or site management should therefore be
directed to the Council.
WAGA and WAM are completely separate organisations. WAGA membership is separate from an allotment tenancy, and WAGA does not allocate plots, collect plot rents or manage allotment sites.
